A DISASTER! A FIVE-BELL ALARM! 

This morning I woke to learn that two more Americans have lost their lives and another is missing as the conflict with Iran continues to escalate. This is the tragic consequence of President Trump’s ego, recklessness, and poor judgment. He has backed both himself and our nation into a corner from which he seems determined to escape only by setting the entire building on fire. With every passing day, he marches us closer to a broader conflagration in the Middle East.

Trump was elected promising Americans that we would become “tired of winning.” Instead, we find ourselves trapped in one crisis after another. Simply read today’s headlines:

• The war in Ukraine, the war Trump claimed he could end in a single day, has only intensified. The destruction inflicted upon both Ukraine and Russia continues to grow as increasingly sophisticated weapons are deployed.
• The military campaign against Iran, which Trump has minimized as an “excursion,” has now claimed additional American lives while thousands of people throughout the region have been killed by the fighting.
• The conflict with Iran continues to expand, drawing additional countries into the crisis, including longtime American allies. How much longer before the region erupts into a much wider war?
• Israel’s military campaign in Gaza continues, with more bombings and civilian deaths reported yesterday.
• The Strait of Hormuz has again been disrupted, threatening global energy supplies and increasing economic uncertainty throughout the world.
• More Americans have been killed by our own federal immigration enforcement, reminiscent of the Gestapo in Nazi Germany. These incidents deserve thorough investigation, accountability, and policies that protect both public safety and our constitutional rights as opposed to those that satiate Trump’s ego.
• Rather than lowering the temperature, the administration continues to encourage increasingly aggressive enforcement tactics, leaving grieving families and fearful communities questioning whether their own government is protecting their rights.
• The cost of living continues to rise for many middle- and lower-income Americans as tariffs, spending reductions, and expanding military commitments place additional pressure on household budgets.

It should surprise no one that yesterday the U.S. State Department warned Americans to exercise increased caution when traveling abroad. In many places, Americans now face greater risks because of growing hostility toward U.S. policies. The image of the “Ugly American” has become, synonymous with Trump’s follies, once again, a damaging reality.

Meanwhile, even as Americans cope with rising costs, military casualties, international instability, and the loss of innocent civilian lives overseas, Trump has continued to benefit personally through business ventures and financial deals involving himself, his family, and political allies, leveraging our tax dollars for his gain and our loss. At the same time, the national debt has climbed dramatically, his personal wealth has also increased substantially.

How long will Americans tolerate this? How long will elected representatives remain silent while our nation becomes more divided, more isolated, and more deeply entangled in conflicts abroad? How many more families must grieve? How many more tax dollars will be spent on destruction instead of strengthening our own communities? How much more abuse are Americans willing to accept?

Friends, this is a disaster.

It is a FIVE-ALARM FIRE.
