TAPA (The American Poseidon Adventure) #192 was titled “Stupidity on Display.” But after listening to Acting Attorney General Todd Blanch report on the Comey indictment, even that feels like an understatement. This latest episode doesn’t just match #192—it surpasses it.
The predicate for the indictment is, frankly, preposterous. A photograph of seashells arranged on a beach to read “86 47” is now being treated as a criminal act? Comey took the picture and posted it, but what about the unknown person who arranged the shells? And how does this square with the countless memes and far more explicit statements made by Donald Trump himself, including remarks that could be interpreted as threats toward elected officials?
Then comes the spectacle of Trump targeting Jimmy Kimmel and ABC, again, this time over a “Merry Widow” joke. As Kimmel pointed out, Trump himself joked about his own demise in remarks to King Charles III. The inconsistency would be amusing if it weren’t so corrosive.
At times, the Trump administration resembles a comic strip; something like, but not as good as Dilbert, where institutional incompetence is laid bare. But even that comparison falls short. What we’re seeing is less a satire of bureaucracy and more a full-blown menagerie.
Watching the news, figures like Todd Blanche and Kash Patel

seem to slip seamlessly into these roles, performing not as stewards of justice but as characters in a spectacle, squandering government resources to serve the zookeeper’s

retribution rather than pursuing legitimate priorities. Those priorities might include serious matters: the Epstein files, credible allegations of financial misconduct, or accountability for the violence of January 6th Trump prompted United States Capitol attack whose participants were later pardoned.
As a comic strip, the “Trump Menagerie”

might be entertaining. As a government, it is something else entirely: a farce with real consequences.
The antidote to this Lord of the Flies meets Animal Farm dynamic is straightforward, if not easy: voters must demand leaders who bring Constitutional loyalty, judgment, integrity, and backbone.
